Firm Overview

Estate Planning, Probate & Estate Administration, and Elder Law Attorney

Serving all of Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester Counties

and also the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens, New York

Arthur E. Olmstead, Attorney at Law

Since being admitted to the New York Bar in 1983, I have been been representing clients in their financial and legal decisions. My practice is concentrated in estate planning, probate & administration; elder law, special needs & guardianship matters; and real estate.

My Westchester office is conveniently located in White Plains, and my Long Island office in Huntington, Suffolk County.  I also meet and work with clients in their homes.  In addition to estate planning, I handle routine and contested estate proceedings and guardianship cases in the Surrogates Courts and Supreme Courts throughout the New York metropolitan area.

Whether your personal situation is simple, or more involved, you will benefit from my experience in recognizing, analyzing and handling complex and contested or litigated cases. Your family will appreciate carefully drawn documents which allow your plans to be effectively carried out in the future, and minimize the risk that anyone would ultimately thwart your wishes and misappropriate your assets.

You may be concerned that the plans of a deceased family member are now being disregarded. Or you may feel that a parent or other incapacitated relative is not being properly cared for, or that they or another person might be misapplying their property. I can review these matters with you, explain your various options and, if necessary, represent you in litigation to correct the situation.

Some families find it necessary to make provisions for living arrangements and the financial affairs of loved ones with special needs or disabilities. In these situations, I can listen to understand your overall situation and then help you implement appropriate plans to provide for each of your family members.

While my primary concerns are meeting the needs of those who may become my clients, I do reserve time to support our local and world communities as an active member of Rotary, and through other volunteer activities.
